Figures are from NTA's NEET UG 2026 instructions as reported. NTA also set a date rule for the 2026 cycle: the photo had to be taken on or after 1 January 2026. Expect a similar rule each year.
Photo rules that trip students up
- 80% face. Your face, including the ears, should fill about 80% of the photo, with no mask.
- Spectacles only if you wear them every day.
- No Polaroid, computer-generated or filtered photos. Beauty filters and edits can fail the Aadhaar match.
- Same photo everywhere. NTA uses it on the admit card, attendance sheet, counselling and admission. Keep the original file.
ExamPic's NEET preset frames your face automatically and whitens a plain wall background. Colour and black-and-white are both accepted.
Prints to carry
Keep 6–8 passport-size and 4–6 postcard-size (4 × 6 inch) prints of the same photo. In ExamPic, open Print copies under the upload slip to lay out the photo on 4 × 6 inch or A4 paper at the right size, then print at "actual size".
